Joerg Zenker was born in the USA and has lived in Belgium since 1998 where he studied ceramics and figure drawing at Academie Anderlecht, and traditional oil painting at the Van der Kelen shool.
For this exhibition the artist is returning to ceramics as his medium to further explore the human form. What he presents is a personal unburdening and hope. Though his sculptures can express human discomfort there is also an element of comfort or even consent towards the world. A world in which we see or create structures in hope to bring contentment among the choices and uncertainty we face.
His inspiration comes from the people and art he encounters from his work as a tour director that takes him throughout Europe. He finds this a great professional combination and way to bring real life into the studio and his art.
