Emma
Donaldson was born in Zimbabwe,
and lived there until she went to study Fine
Art in Surrey, England. She now lives in Brussels
with her husband and three children.
"I have always been inspired by Africa and the African art I grew up with in various ways; the simplicity of line, the solidness of the sculptures and more recently the intense colours. Always present in my work too, is my fascination with people; their emotions, their bodies and relationships."
She works with many different mediums to create
volume and texture, which echoes her fascination
with heavy, voluptuous figures and faces. More
recently she has been working with painted line
drawings on intensely colored canvases.
She has participated in various group exhibitions,
and takes on private commissions.
