Juana Cañas was born in the province of Córdoba, Spain. Having experimented with different styles, it is after studying with the renowned artist in Spain, Guillermo Muñoz Vera that she developed her current style, skilfully combining methods of the Renaissance artists with her own personal style, bringing life to the art of still-life painting. Her still-life pictures are a window onto life in a Mediterranean country, hinting at the presence of a person without ever revealing a human figure. She also studied engraving at ''Galeria Brita Prinz'' where her work in prints has been described in Spain as impeccable.
Juana has worked with galleries in USA, UK and Spain, and her work hangs in many private collections in cities around the world, including : Athens, Brussels, Chicago, Dublin, Hollywood, London, Madrid, New York, Panama, Rome, Tokyo, and Washington.
Her work also featured extensively in the book "Still Life in Oils" by Theodora Philcox, published by AVA, Switzerland, and on the front cover of the autumn 2000 issue of Symposium, a quarterly journal in Modern Literatures.
In recent years, she has expanded her range of work to include, as well as still-life paintings, gardens, arquitecture, seascapes, and landscapes.
