Yannis Chaviaras

Yannis Chaviaras was born in 1977 in Antwerp, Belgium and has lived most of his life in Athens, Greece. He studied Graphic Design & Publicity and gained a Bachelor of Arts. He works since 2000 in the IT sector and lives since 2004 back in Belgium.

After taking some stone sculpture lessons, he adopted Sculpture as his primary focus of Art. From 2000 till 2006, his main sphere of interest was the combination of natural hard stones either with organic objects or with old iron mechanical elements found at local flea markets. A selection of works of that period shall be presented at the BAAF 2008.

He participated in a number of group exhibitions, notably in March 2001 at the Art Gallery AENAON, Neo Psichiko-Athens and at the Art festival 'WIT' in March 2007 in the centre of Brussels.

In 2002 he created a virtual Online Art Gallery for young artists (www.caviart.net).

He is currently studying Fine Arts Sculpture at the Academie voor beeldende kunsten Anderlecht.
