Rachel Stewart

Welsh born artist Rachel Stewart, has lived and worked in Amsterdam since1995 originally working for advertising agency Wieden and Kennedy. Now painting full-time, Rachel’s favourite subjects are Amsterdam and Brussels: the people, the buildings, the energy and the optimism. The paintings are largely autobiographical, capturing the joie de vivre she first felt as a young single person in Amsterdam. Movement and energy communicating life and intensity are common themes in her work. She also injects the same life and humour into her other subjects: her ‘Smashing tulips’ and landscapes all follow a similarly energetic and slightly quirky approach.
